Which mountain to choose from Tashkent: Chimgan, Babaitag, Okhotnichiy or Karakush
From Tashkent, NarminTour runs four different summit days, not a cable-car resort outing. For a mountain day without a summit, see Chimgan: mountain rest. This piece is how to pick a peak itinerary from what the tour pages actually list.
Figures below come from those pages. Babaitag’s elevation is not on the card — we do not invent it.
Summary
The essentials in a minute
In detail
Four programmes — no invented road distances
All four start in Tashkent and return there. The cards do not give road kilometres or a 1–3 difficulty grade. We compare height (where stated), duration, price, the shape of the day, and what is in the package.
Bolshoy Chimgan — 3,309 m, 1 day, 500,000 UZS. Babaitag — 1 day, 700,000 UZS. Pik Okhotnichiy — 3,099 m, 1 day, 700,000 UZS. Karakush — 3,864 m, 1–2 days, 800,000 UZS.
Bolshoy Chimgan 3,309 m — if you want the famous summit
The card calls it the best-known peak of the Chatkal range. Day: early departure from Tashkent, briefing in Chimgan, green slopes then rocky trails, a stop on alpine meadows, the 3,309 m summit with a 360° view of the Western Tian Shan, descent and return to the city.
It is stated for participants with good physical fitness. Full day: Bolshoy Chimgan ascent.
Babaitag — if pace matters more than metres
The card does not name the summit height. It describes another character: a route without rush, flowering slopes, green meadows, unusual rock forms, herds on high pastures.
Priced above Chimgan (700,000 UZS), still one day. More: Babaitag from Tashkent.
Pik Okhotnichiy 3,099 m — snowfields, rock, character
A summit in the Chimgan mountain knot, lower than Bolshoy Chimgan on paper (3,099 vs 3,309), but the final climb goes through rocky sections and snowfields. From the top you see Bolshoy Chimgan.
Spring is especially beautiful — snowfields and flowering valleys. Same price as Babaitag: 700,000 UZS, 1 day. Article: Pik Okhotnichiy 3,099 m.
Karakush 3,864 m — higher, and 1–2 days
Karakush (“Black bird”) — 3,864 m, “one of the highest in the Chimgan region”. The only format of the four that is 1–2 days: the programme mentions a first camp or an overnight on the way to the summit.
Rock sections and open ridges are part of summit day. Unlike the others, the package includes gear for rocky sections. Price 800,000 UZS. Article: Karakush 3,864 m.
What every tour includes — and what it does not
Chimgan, Babaitag and Okhotnichiy: Tashkent–mountains–Tashkent transport, guide, route insurance. Not included: food and water (bring them), personal gear (trekking shoes, clothes for the weather).
Karakush adds rock gear; from your side — shoes and warm clothes. Listed prices: 500 / 700 / 700 / 800 thousand UZS per person. Confirm when you book.
Choose in a minute
Famous summit, one day — Bolshoy Chimgan. Unhurried day — Babaitag. Snowfields, rock, view of Chimgan — Pik Okhotnichiy. Maximum height, 1–2 days — Karakush.
If you want water, not a summit — Ugam rafting (18+, 9 km). Mountains without a peak — Chimgan rest.
Takeaway
Conclusion
The question is which format matches your fitness and time: one day to 3,309 m, a calmer Babaitag, snow-and-rock Okhotnichiy, or 1–2 days on Karakush at 3,864 m. See Chimgan, Babaitag, Pik Okhotnichiy and Karakush at NarminTour.
