How to get to Uzbekistan: flights, airports and transfer
Most travellers fly into Tashkent (TAS) — the country's main international hub. Sometimes Samarkand (SKD), Bukhara (BHK) or Urgench (UGC) suit the route better (e.g. Khiva), but flight options are more limited.

Tashkent International (TAS) is the primary entry point. Uzbekistan Airways, Aeroflot, Turkish Airlines, flydubai, Wizz Air and others serve it. Modern terminal: exchange, SIM cards, taxis and ride apps.
Samarkand (SKD) handles some international flights — handy if your route starts at Registan. Bukhara (BHK) and Urgench (UGC) have fewer international routes than Tashkent and Samarkand; for Khiva you often connect in Tashkent. Schedules change — check airline websites.
Flights from Russia
From Moscow (Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo) — direct Uzbekistan Airways and Aeroflot flights, about 3.5–4.5 hours. From St Petersburg, Kazan, Yekaterinburg — direct or via Moscow.

Flights from Europe and beyond

From the UK, US, Asia — usually one or two connections. Turkish Airlines, flydubai and Uzbekistan Airways are common. Tip: allow 2–3 hours minimum for long layovers.
Domestic flights and connections
Between Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, Nukus and Fergana — Uzbekistan Airways and local carriers. Tashkent–Samarkand ~1 hour; Tashkent–Urgench ~1.5 hours. Alternative — Afrosiyob high-speed train (Tashkent–Samarkand ~2 hours).

Airport transfer

After several days of sightseeing you may want mountains and some unplanned time. Zaamin, in Jizzakh Region, is one such direction. It is known for its landscapes, including juniper woods, called archa locally. The word Zaamin does not explain the trip. Nurata and the Chashma complex: a stop with a reason of its own
Nurata is often mentioned only as a way to Aydarkul or to a yurt camp. The town deserves more than that: it has its own reason for a stop. The Chashma complex — a spring and the historic buildings beside it — is a subject of its own. It is a revered place, and a visit has to respect people who did not come for a tour.
